Start with the bends and the available working space
S-28 addresses an access problem as well as a size requirement. A tube may fall within a nominal collaring range while its bends prevent a larger machine from reaching the outlet position. The slim machine arrangement is therefore worth reviewing for a tightly curved component.
- Dimension the bend radii and distances from the outlet to nearby bends.
- Show outlet orientation and the complete finished tube shape.
- Identify surfaces available for clamping without obstructing the operation.
Match the operating sequence to the connection
The brochure describes drilling/collaring for lap joints and drilling/collaring/trimming for butt-weld preparation. It also describes an elliptical pilot hole prepared beforehand with separate equipment for a butt-weld arrangement.
These routes require different planning for the preceding and following operations. State which joint is required and whether a pilot opening already exists, so the enquiry can address the actual preparation sequence and tooling.
Capacity needs the material and wall thickness too
The supplied S-28 brochure lists collar sizes from 6 to 28 mm and describes several malleable materials. Use that as a reference for the documented setup, then confirm the actual size and material combination for the proposed machine.
For a mixed component family, provide more than one representative drawing if the bends or outlet positions differ. Similar outside diameters can still create different access and clamping requirements.
Plan repeat production and changeovers
Servo-controlled movements, a colour touch panel and adjustable machining parameters are features described by the manufacturer. Their practical relevance depends on how often the same component is produced and what changes between jobs.
For a workshop producing several bent-tube parts, list the usual batch quantities, material changes and tooling sizes. This makes it easier to discuss the required setup and positioning approach rather than choosing only on a headline diameter range.
Submit an S-28 enquiry with the component geometry
Send the tube drawing, material grade, wall thickness and joint requirement to Logamweld. Add the quantity, intended Malaysian workshop location and project timeline. Photos or a sketch of an existing workholding arrangement can help explain any access issue.
Contact the Shah Alam team through your preferred channel and ask for confirmation of the proposed tools, clamps and process configuration against the drawing.
Questions before you choose S-28
Is S-28 simply a smaller-capacity S-56?
Its specific role includes access to tightly bent tubes where S-56 may be unsuitable. Compare component geometry and clamping as well as the capacity chart.
Does an elliptical pilot hole mean the S-28 creates that hole itself?
The supplied brochure describes the elliptical opening as prepared beforehand using separate equipment. Confirm the required process and preceding operation when requesting the package.
