Product Overview

The T-DRILL F-420e forms pipe-end lips or stub ends for loose-flange connections using an electric, servo-controlled arrangement. The manufacturer describes programmable settings, adjustable clamping force and hot- or cold-forming requirements according to the material and component.

For a Malaysian pipe-fabrication enquiry, begin with the required flange connection and finished pipe-end drawing. Diameter, wall thickness, material and the specified end geometry determine the appropriate forming process and tooling.

Start with the finished flange connection

F-420e forms the pipe end itself for use with a loose flange. The intended connection should therefore be reviewed before selecting the machine. Supply the flange standard, end-lip dimensions and mating details, together with the material and pipe dimensions.

  • Show the required formed end on the component drawing.
  • Identify the loose flange, mating connection and any specified surface finish.
  • Include long or bent workpieces that affect access and handling.

Electric drive and programmable forming settings

The brochure describes a fully electric machine without hydraulic or pneumatic operation. Servo technology and programmed adjustments are used for the forming sequence, including clamping-force adjustment. These features are relevant when discussing repeat components and changes between pipe sizes.

They should be considered alongside the complete production setup. The requested package still needs the correct tooling, workholding and workpiece support for the range of parts being quoted.

Choose hot or cold forming from the capacity data

The appropriate method depends on material, pipe size and wall thickness. The supplied brochure distinguishes cold-forming capacity from hot forming of carbon steel and describes an induction-heater option. Do not apply a hot-forming maximum to a cold-forming requirement or to another material.

Submit the exact grade and thickness for each pipe size. Ask for confirmation of the forming method and any heating equipment included in the proposed scope.

Plan the workstation around pipe length and shape

For a fabrication workshop, loading and supporting the pipe can be as important to the layout as the machine footprint. Include the longest pipe, any bends and the direction in which the component will enter the workstation.

If the line handles several pipe sizes, describe the normal batch quantities and changeover frequency. This allows the tooling and support arrangement to be discussed against the component family rather than a single sample end.

Prepare a flanging enquiry for local review

Send Logamweld the pipe-end drawing, flange requirement, material grades and dimensional range. Include the actual electrical supply, available workshop space, Malaysian delivery location and required timing.

Use your preferred contact channel for the Shah Alam team. Ask for confirmation of the machine configuration, forming tools, support equipment and any heating, commissioning or training requirements you want addressed in the quotation.

Questions before you choose F-420e

Does electric drive mean every material can be cold formed?

The forming method and capacity still depend on the material, dimensions and setup. Use the material-specific chart and confirm whether the proposed application needs heating.

What should be compared with F-200 or F-400?

Compare the required diameter/thickness range, forming method, control arrangement, tooling and workpiece handling. Use the same finished connection drawing as the basis for each proposal.
